In Exploring FaCS we will be focusing on fashion and interior design concepts, sewing, nutrition, personal finance, healthy relationships and child development. Hands-on projects and technology will be a main focus. Get ready for a sewing project, dream room designer, Day of Play (child development) interactive days, a product taste test, and many more fun activities!
Supplies you will need:
A folder with pockets (provided by the teacher)
A pen or pencil with an eraser
Lined notebook paper
Various project supplies will be needed throughout the semester, but at least one week's notice will be given
Lessons will cover:
Communication and Active Listening
The FCCLA planning process, roles of professional/community organizations, a self-esteem assessment, personality cupcakes
Child development theories and theorists, parenting styles, first aid, child milestones and play styles
Values, goals, advertising, comparison shopping, store vs. name brand quality and taste test
Elements and principles of design, the color wheel, floor plans, room designing
Fashion through the ages, style scenarios, sewing machine parts, threading/making a bobbin, paper sewing, sewing project.
Sewing Project Supplies - Due Monday, October 30th
2 yards of 100% cotton (non-stretchy) fabric - Can be 1 yard of two different fabrics.
Thread in a color that matches your fabric.
Teacher will provide webbing for straps, patterns, and other sewing supplies
